Easter Showstopper!
Easter is coming! I saw a picture of this chocolate basket on the internet and thought I would give it a go and this was the outcome….Ta Dah!
This basket would make a brilliant place to put an assortment of fresh berries, a delicious batch of homemade cookies or of course Easter eggs. It could even become a cereal bowl on Easter Sunday morning!
It’s very easy to make
although a bit time consuming! The hardest part is tying a knot in the end of the balloon.
All I used was 700g of chocolate (I chose milk and white).
Place the balloon in a bowl and secure with sellotape.
Then melt 200g of milk chocolate over a pan of boiling water. Leave the melted chocolate to cool for a few minutes. Then drizzle over the balloon. Let it drip down as much as it wants to.
This is when it starts to look like something from an Alien movie. Then put it in the fridge to set for about an hour.
Repeat this again with 200g of white chocolate.
Put the balloon back in the fridge for and hour in between each layer.
I then did one more layer each of 100g milk and 100g white chocolate, getting a bit more adventurous with the patterns. As usual I made a complete mess doing this.
Then put a big dollop of melted chocolate on a board (using the left over 100g). Carefully take the sellotape off the bowl, turn the balloon upside down and plonk it in the melted blob of chocolate. Hold it for a few seconds just to let it settle. Then pop in the fridge for an hour.
So far so good! Then comes the scary part, time to pop the balloon.
Et Voila….
If your feeling really brave you could even fill the basket with homemade Easter eggs.
Easter picnic anyone?! |
Looks like chicks my only taker!
Time to sit back and relax and enjoy this lovely weather we’re having today! Have a Happy Easter!

I LOVE THIS! Yes I am shouting! It is gorgeous & I am so impressed with your workmanship. You have me thinking…I wonder if you could make small individual dessert cups that way, fill them with chocolate mousse & berries??? Your bowl is so beautiful! So, are you going to eat it when you’re done with it???
