Blue Kefir Smoothie with Manuka Honey

I’ve been hearing a great deal about Kefir lately.Β 

Kefir is a fermented milk drink made with Kefir grains. It is packed full of friendly bacteria & yeast, making Kefir a rich & diverse source of probiotics.

Probiotics can improve your general health from aiding digestion to boosting your immune system.

So I had to give Kefir a try.

Blue Kefir Smoothie

I initially tried it ‘au natural’!

It doesn’t taste bad, but it does have a sourness to it.

I wanted to give it a sweetness without adding too much sugar and certainly no refined sugars.

I’m sure Kefir loses its sparkle if mixed with refined sugar!

My Blue Kefir Smoothie with Manuka Honey was born!Blue Kefir Smoothie with Manuka Honey Pour 250mls Kefir into a blender.

Add a large handful of blueberries.

Then add a generous teaspoon of Manuka Honey.Blue Kefir Smoothie with Manuka Honey Turn the blender on for 30 seconds or so.

Pour & enjoy!Blue Kefir Smoothie with Manuka Honey There are other varieties of Kefir available, such as fermented coconut milk.

I’m quite partial to coconut milk! So I must get my hands on some Kefir Coconut Milk.

It could be a nice addition to this smoothie or perhaps my Summer Red Berry Smoothie.Blue Kefir Smoothie with Manuka Honey A study has also shown that Kefir made from cows milk has helped some people with lactose intolerance. (It does say to talk to your GP before trying it.)

This I would like to know more about.
